About us:

Joe Watts started producing and directing mostly gay-themed theater in 1983 as The Group (Theatre Workshop). For many years a “homeless” company, his productions were seen at many Houston theaters: Stages, Main Street, DiverseWorks etc. In 2000 he had his own theater on California Street in the Montrose area, and the name was changed to Theatre New West, but the building was sold at the end of 2003, which once again put him “back on the street.”  Since that time he has produced several productions at Holocaust Museum Houston.   Over the past 25+ years, as a part of most all of his productions, he has had benefits for a great many gay and lesbian organizations, and was the FIRST “theatrical” benefit for Aids Foundation Houston.  He also had a benefit for Annise Parker, our soon to be Mayor, on her first bid for City Council.
